Stuck? Get a 2-minute first step.
Why two minutes works
Most avoidance isn't about the whole task. It's about the moment before you begin, when the task still feels huge and vague. A step small enough to finish in two minutes skips that moment: there's nothing to dread in putting your shoes on or typing a subject line.
Once you've started, carrying on is much easier than starting was. And if you stop when the two minutes are up, you still moved the task forward, which makes the next start easier too.
